The Civil Service Commission of the Borough of Pottstown will be conducting a Written Examination for Pottstown Police Officers.

Date: Saturday, October 26, 2019
Time: 8:30 a.m. - Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. **
Location: Pottstown Senior High School (Washington Street Entrance), 748 N. Washington Street

** Persons not registered by 8:30 a.m. will be ineligible for testing. No one will be permitted to enter the testing area after 8:30 a.m.

Written Examination Requirements and Rules:

Written Examination Application Process

  • Applications will be accepted beginning on Thursday, September 12, 2019
  • Applications and payment MUST be submitted online. No paper applications will be accepted
  • A non-refundable fee of $35.00 is due at the time of application
  • Applications must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Note: Time of receipt of application and payment will be the determining factor in the case of a tied score
General Requirements: 
Candidate must:
  • Be a United States Citizen 
  • Be 18 years of age or older 
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED 
  • Be physically and mentally fit to perform full duties of a Police Officer 
  • Possess a valid PA Driver’s License prior to appointment 
  • Successfully pass medical and psychological screening, drug and alcohol testing, and a polygraph examination prior to appointment 
  • Establish permanent bona fide residence within FIFTEEN (15) miles of any legal boundary of the Borough of Pottstown within nine (9) months of completing the probationary period 

Rate of Pay and Benefits

The 2019 starting rate of pay for a Pottstown Police Officer is $29.44 hourly.  Benefits include, but are not limited to:
