Citizens Leadership Academy

The Citizens Leadership Academy is a no cost, interactive civic education program open to Borough of Pottstown residents, property owners, and business owners interested in becoming better acquainted with the Borough's operations, policies, and procedures. The 11 week Program has been developed to provide a glimpse of the inner workings of Municipal government, to develop civic leadership, and to build a stronger community through well-informed, engaged residents. 

Sessions will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to approximately 8:30pm beginning on Thursday, September 1, 2016 in Council Chambers, located on the third floor of Borough Hall. Each session will feature presentations and discussion with Borough personnel, as well as tours of Borough facilities.

Class size is limited to 20 registered participants. All participants must adhere to the following criteria:

  • Complete the full application
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Live or own a property or business within the Borough boundaries
  • Commit to attending the entire 11 week program (barring a personal emergency)
  • Submit to a background check conducted by the Pottstown Police Department

Participants will be notified via email of their acceptance into the Program.

Sep. 21, 2016**   Finance and Parks and Recreation, including Manatawny Green Miniature Golf
Sep. 29, 2016      Wastewater Treatment Plant, including tour
Oct. 6, 2016         Water Treatment Plant, including tour
Oct. 13, 2016       Pottstown Area Rapid Transit and Pottstown Municipal Airport, including tour of the airport
Oct. 20, 2016       Licensing and Inspections
Oct. 27, 2016       PAID and Borough Projects
Nov. 3, 2016        Police Department, including tour of the Department and K9 demonstration
Nov. 9, 2016        Graduation at the Committee of the Whole Meeting

**Please Note: Class will be held on WEDNESDAY, September 21st. The remainder of classes will be held on Thursdays.

Transportation from Borough Hall to the facilities will be provided by Pottstown Area Rapid Transit.
