Parks and Recreation Policies

General Policies:
    A Resident is defined as someone who lives in and pays taxes to the Pottstown School District/Borough of Pottstown
    • Senior Citizens (65 years old and older who are Borough taxpayers) are entitled to enroll in any adult evening course free of charge with the exception of First Aid/CPR courses. Courses that require a textbook and/or supplies are the responsibility of the gold cardholder.
    • IMPORTANT! You will be notified only if your course is cancelled.
    • Withdrawals from a class/program prior to its start date: a full refund will be issued via check less a $10 administrative fee.
    • Any returned check will be assessed a service charge.
    • Pottstown Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine classes
    • When school is closed because of a holiday, in-service, etc. there will be no evening classes.
    • All programs have a minimum and maximum enrollment and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • No tuition fees will be refunded after the first class has been held. No tuition fees will be discounted or make ups offered due to lack of attendance. Only if a class is cancelled in its entirety will tuition will be refunded.
    • When school is closed due to inclement weather evening activities at the school will also be cancelled. The school closing number is 312. In the event of inclement weather, tune to WBYN radio (107.5 FM).
    • We make every effort to reschedule classes cancelled by Parks and Recreation
    • Materials and supplies are not included in the class registration fee unless specified.

Attraction and Ski Tickets:
Acceptable forms of payment are as follows:
  • Cash
  • Credit Card, $20 minimum purchase
  • Personal Check, $50 maximum purchase
  • Effective 11/1/2016 all sales are final

Youth Course Registration:

Contact Parks and Recreation to register for all youth offerings.
All classes require pre-registration for participation. Payment is due in-full two weeks prior to class start date or at the time of registration. Payment must be made to the Parks and Recreation office. Please do not expect to pay instructors at the start of class. Students will be refused participation if fees are not paid before the start of classes. Parks and Recreation will not pro-rate missed classes.

Adult Course Registration:

Contact Parks and Recreation to register unless otherwise specified
All adult courses/offerings require pre-registration and payment in full two weeks prior to start date or at the time of registration. Payment must be made to the Parks and Recreation office. Please do not expect to pay instructor at the start of class. Students will be refused participation if fees are not paid before the start of classes. Parks and Recreation will not pro-rate missed classes.

Bus Trip Policies:

1. All bus trips require a $50 nonrefundable deposit per seat. When trip fees are $90 or less per person, half of the total amount is required to reserve a seat; this is also nonrefundable. .
2. Initial deposits are non-refundable.
3. Balances on all trips are due three weeks in advance of the performance.
4. Itineraries will be mailed out at a minimum two weeks prior to the trip.
5. Payment plans/installments can be arranged.
6. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, cash or check are acceptable methods of payment.
7. Bus trips include bus fare, venue ticket, and dinner at selected restaurant w/ selected menu.
8. Occasionally, minor changes in the itinerary may be necessary.
9. It is the responsibility of the patron to make sure that he or she is on time for boarding the bus at all stops.

Park Rental and Amenities:

To rent a park facility, space, or equipment the “Facility and Equipment Rental Agreement” form must be submitted with a non-refundable $25 deposit for each facility or space to secure your reservation. There is no guarantee of reservation without these two things. If you inquire about a date without submitting the above, the date will not be held until we are in receipt of the form and a deposit. The balance must be paid in full 2 weeks prior to the event date. All rentals are based on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once payment in full is submitted, you will be issued a permit. If the rental is by an organization, proof of insurance must be submitted in addition to the two items listed above. In the event of non-payment, Parks and Recreation will attempt to contact you one time, if to no avail we reserve the right to make said date/space available to others.

Registration and Payments:

Pre-registration is required in all instances, you can do so by calling or stopping in person to the Parks and Recreation Department located at 100 E. High Street Pottstown, PA 19464. Payment in full is required two weeks prior to the start of the class, session, or course offering or at time of registration. In order for you to be fully registered, payment must be received in full. Do not expect to pay the Instructor on the first night of class. Services will be refused for non-payment.

Acceptable forms of payment include:

Cash, check, or credit card in person at Borough Hall, Parks and Recreation Department – 100 E. High Street
Mail a check payable to ‘The Borough of Pottstown’ to the above address, attn: Parks and Recreation
Call with credit card info – (610) 970-6618/6608 – acceptable credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover.

Refunds:

All refunds are issued via check and take two to three weeks for processing. Checks will be mailed to the address provided.
