All classes require pre-registration for participation. Payment is due in-full two weeks prior to class start date or at the time of registration. Payment must be made to the Parks and Recreation office. Please do not expect to pay instructors at the start of class. Students will be refused participation if fees are not paid before the start of classes. Parks and Recreation will not pro-rate missed classes. Call to register 610-970-6618

Dance Classes   **New class added: TUESDAY Beginner Ballet for ages 6-12
Parks and Recreation offers our long-running dance programs to the community once again this season with Instructor Miss Amber. Dance is a healthy way to have fun and builds both confidence and coordination. Classes run September through May with a Winter break. Our course ends with a dance recital on the stage at the Middle School in the Spring that proves everyone can be a star! Call to pre-register 610-970-6618.

Recital costumes are an additional cost and average $40-$45 dollars.

All classes are held at Lincoln Elementary School Multipurpose room.

Preschool boys and girls will learn basic ballet steps and combinations. This activity promotes coordination, flexibility, and timing and develops listening skills and enthusiasm for learning. Ballet shoes preferred but not required.

Beginner Ballet: Ages 6-12
Children ages 6-12 can participate in this introductory course with little or no prior experience. We begin with basic steps and combinations and build towards improving grace and coordination. Beginners Ballet can build the basis for a long-term passion for healthy and active living.

Intermediate / Advanced Ballet: Ages 6-12
Our intermediate classes offer a chance for dance students to advance through more challenging steps and combinations. This is an excellent course for dancers who have already attended our beginners’ classes. Prior experience is a prerequisite. Intermediate/Advanced Ballet offers a rewarding and fun learning experience. Ballet shoes preferred but not required.

Tap and Jazz is elegance that is still cool. You will be amazed at how quickly our students’ coordination and energy grows with each class. We start with basic steps and combinations, building confidence, coordination, and improving key listening and learning skills. No prior experience required. Taps shoes preferred but not required.

Beginner Tap and Jazz: Ages 6-12
Tap and Jazz Beginner classes require no prior experience. Students will learn the basics and advance to simple steps and combinations. Dance is an activity that is elegant and still cool. Classes promote fun and active lifestyles and build life-long learning skills. Students should expect to come away from the experience with confidence, coordination, and an enthusiasm for learning. Tap shoes preferred but not required.

Our advanced course builds upon established skills to teach more challenging steps and combinations. Expect students to come away with increased confidence and energy as they build skills and memories that will last a lifetime.

Gymnastics  **Many classes are full; please call for availability

Register beginning August 1, 2016 for the Fall session of Gymnastics with Parks and Recreation. Our classes offer opportunities for boys and girls ages 4-12 to engage in active and healthy activity and develop skills like balance, coordination, upper body strength, and flexibility. Most of all it is a fun way to stay active and fit. **Advancement in all classes will depend on instructor’s assessments.

Classes are held weekdays at the gymnasium in the School District Administration building at 230 Beech St. Gymnasium is located in the front of the building with parking in the rear.

All classes run 12 weeks. Limited spots are available.

Classes begin the week of September 19, 2016 and you must register by calling 610-970-6618 beginning August 1, 2016 .

Tumbling Tykes: Gymnastics for ages 4-6
Our beginners’ class for new and younger students offers a fun approach to the fundamentals of gymnastics and the equipment. We encourage teamwork and sharing through instruction, games, and drills. Register by calling 610-970-6618.

Intermediate Gymnastics: Ages 7-12

Judo classes for All Ages and Skills Levels
judoJudo courses teach the fundamentals of self-defense, discipline, and self-confidence. Focus is placed on learning the proper application of throwing and grappling techniques in a safe and supportive environment. Advanced students routinely participate in local tournaments. Judo is a great physical activity that any member of the family can enjoy, and many families sign up to attend classes together. Instructors are nationally certified coaches with a combined teaching experience of over 50 years. Don’t miss this chance to build confidence and participate in an active healthy-living sport. Introductory session

Parks and Recreation is partnering with Red Cloud Kung Fu! Have you always wanted to try Kung Fu but weren’t ready for the commitment? Join us for an introductory 6 week session and see if it’s for you! Classes will be held at Red Cloud Kung Fu located at 307 East High Street Pottstown. Introductory session is $75 per person. Red Cloud Kung Fu teaches Tien Sha Pai, a Northern Kung Fu style that provides correct body alignment, agility and strength. Learn how Kung Fu can give you flexibility, endurance and coordination all while learning the fundamentals of a traditional and powerful martial art. You will learn the 10 basic stretching exercises, stances, punches and kicks in an intense but fun workout. You will learn self-defense, gain confidence and feel more energetic. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing and sneakers, bring a towel, water, and your enthusiasm.

For ages 11-15

Learn how to be a superior babysitter! Class received First Aid and CPR certification as well as discusses age appropriate toys and games, how to be safe on the job and respond to emergencies. Certification is good for two years. Must pre-register to attend; call 610-970-6618.
