All classes require pre-registration for participation. Payment is due in-full two weeks prior to class start date or at the time of registration. Payment must be made to the Parks and Recreation office. Please do not expect to pay instructors at the start of class. Smashville Badminton
Introductory Course

Badminton is a fast-paced and fun racquet sport for all ages and abilities. Betcha didn’t know Pottstown has its own National-Circuit Club right on High Street! Now is the time for you to try something new that builds coordination, and stamina.

Dance Classes

Parks and Recreation offers our long-running dance programs to the community once again this season with Instructor Miss Amber. Dance is a healthy way to have fun and builds both confidence and coordination. Classes run September through end of April with a Winter break. All classes are held at Lincoln Elementary School Multipurpose room.

Our course ends with a dance recital on the stage at the Middle School in the Spring that proves everyone can be a star! Recital costumes are an additional cost and average $40-$45 dollars.

The recital this year will be held on Saturday April 22, 2016 – further details about our new ticket admission policy for audience attendance has been distributed – check your email!

Registration for the 2017-2018 dance season will open Friday August 4, 2017; you must call or stop in to Parks and Rec to register. Thank you.


Our classes offer opportunities for boys and girls ages 4-12 to engage in active and healthy activity and develop skills like balance, coordination, upper body strength, and flexibility. Most of all it is a fun way to stay active and fit. **Advancement in all classes will depend on instructor’s assessments. All classes run 12 weeks. Limited spots are available.
Classes are held weekdays at the Edgewood Elementary Building: 920 Morris St.
Parking in the rear.

Spring session begins the week of February 13, 2017! Registration for the Spring session begins January 5, 2017.

Tumbling Tykes: Gymnastics for ages 4-6
Our tumbling class for new and younger students offers a fun approach to the fundamentals of gymnastics and the equipment. We encourage teamwork and sharing through instruction, games, and drills. Register by calling 610-970-6618. Cost: $85 Resident / $95 Nonresident

Intermediate Gymnastics: Ages 7-12
If you have taken Beginners’ Gymnastics courses with us before and are looking to advance your skills, this is the class for you. We will work on improving balance, flexibility and proficiency on the equipment. It is important to gauge your student’s skill before signing up for this class. A good candidate should be able to do a 3-sec handstand, a cartwheel and round-off, and have the ability to go down into an unassisted backbend. Register by calling 610-970-6618.

Advanced Gymnastics: Ages 7-12
If you have taken Beginners’ and Intermediate Gymnastics courses with us before and are looking to advance your skills, this is the class for you. We will continue the steps to improving balance, flexibility and proficiency on the equipment. A good candidate should be able to do a 3-sec handstand, a cartwheel and round-off, and have the ability to go down into an unassisted backbend – fluidity and smoothness of movements are key factors in advancing into this section; our instructor will assess students’ abilities to take part in this advanced class. Judo classes for Children - Any Skill Level
judoJudo courses teach the fundamentals of self-defense, discipline, and self-confidence. Focus is placed on learning the proper application of throwing and grappling techniques in a safe and supportive environment. Advanced students have routinely participated in local tournaments. Judo is a great physical activity that any member of the family can enjoy. Instructors are nationally certified coaches with a combined teaching experience of over 50 years. Introductory session

Parks and Recreation has partnered with Red Cloud Kung Fu! Have you always wanted to try Kung Fu but weren’t ready for the commitment? Join us for an introductory 6 week session and see if it’s for you! Classes will be held at Red Cloud Kung Fu located at 307 East High Street Pottstown. Introductory session is $75 per person. Red Cloud Kung Fu teaches Tien Sha Pai, a Northern Kung Fu style that provides correct body alignment, agility and strength. Learn how Kung Fu can give you flexibility, endurance and coordination all while learning the fundamentals of a traditional and powerful martial art. You will learn the 10 basic stretching exercises, stances, punches and kicks in an intense but fun workout. You will learn self-defense, gain confidence and feel more energetic. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing and sneakers, bring a towel, water, and your enthusiasm.

For ages 11-15

Learn how to be a superior babysitter! Class receives pediatric First Aid and CPR certification as well as discusses age appropriate toys and games, how to be safe on the job and respond to emergencies. Certification is valid for two years. Must pre-register to attend; call 610-970-6618.

Youth Soccer Sampler

Join us for a Co-Ed youth soccer sampler! The soccer sampler is geared towards children ages 4-10, 7 sessions on Saturday mornings running from March 18 thru May 13, 2017, not session April 16 – Pollock Park 847 Cross Street, Pottstown.

8-10 year olds – 9:00am
6-7 year olds – 10:00am
4-5 year olds – 11:00am

Our Coaches will be working on developing new and honing existing skills, so whether you are a beginner or have been playing soccer, this is a program for you! The session fee is $40 for the 8 weeks and will include a t-shirt that you will receive during the first day. Stay tuned for Intramural league information for the Fall of 2017!
